Frequently Asked Questions.

How much does custom cabinetry cost in Iowa?

Every project is different, but most full kitchen cabinet packages run somewhere between $15,000 and $60,000, depending on size, species, finish, and hardware. Smaller projects like a bathroom vanity, a laundry room, or a home office built-in typically cost between $3,000 and $12,000. We provide detailed estimates before anything moves forward, and we'll tell you upfront if a design is pushing the budget.

What's the difference between custom, semi-custom, and stock cabinetry?

Custom cabinetry is built to your exact dimensions and specifications, with no standard sizes and no compromises. Semi-custom uses manufacturer-produced boxes in a wide range of sizes and finishes, with more flexibility than stock but less than full custom. Stock is off-the-shelf, available immediately, and priced for budget projects. We offer all three tiers. The right one depends on your timeline, budget, and how specific your design requirements are.

How long does a cabinetry project take from start to finish?

Plan on 8 to 14 weeks for a full custom kitchen from signed estimate to installation. Semi-custom runs 5 to 8 weeks, while smaller custom pieces like a single vanity, a fireplace mantel, or built-in shelving typically run 4 to 6 weeks. Lead times can shift based on what's currently moving through the shop, which is why we build a schedule before your project starts and keep you updated throughout.

What areas do you serve?

Our shop is in Urbana, Iowa and we primarily serve Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, Robins, Solon, North Liberty, Iowa City, Waterloo, Cedar Falls and the broader Eastern Iowa corridor. We do have experience with projects out of state as well, so just reach out and ask.

Do you handle design, or do I need to come in with drawings?

We can work either way. If you already have drawings from an architect or designer, we'll work from those. If you're starting from scratch, we'll work with you to lay out the space, nail down the design, and get drawings produced before anything goes into production. We also work regularly with interior designers, and if you're already working with one, looping us in early is the best way to keep the project on track.

What wood species and materials do you use?

For custom work, we build in whatever species fits the project. European Beechwood, cherry, alder, white oak, walnut, and painted are the most common. Our box is constructed with NAF certified domestically sourced 3/4” plywood, not particleboard. Finish materials, door profiles, and hardware are all selected based on the specific job. We don't use anything in your home that we wouldn't use in our own.

Do you offer installation?

Yes. We can deliver and install, work with your preferred installer, or recommend some of our installation partners. Either way, we coordinate directly with your contractor or builder to make sure the installation goes in correctly. We're not handing off a pile of boxes and walking away.

What is your warranty?

We stand behind everything we build with a 1-year warranty on materials and workmanship. If something comes up after that, reach out anyway. We'd rather fix it than have a problem sitting in one of our projects.
